“Healthy” Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose gluten-free flour (I used coconut flour)
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 mashed avocado
  • 3 Tbsp. coconut oil, melted
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp. Agave syrup
  • A handful of bittersweet (dark/cacao) chocolate chips

Directions

1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a baking sheet.

2) Whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt together in one bowl…

3) Stir together the avocado, coconut oil, vanilla extract and brown rice or maple syrup. Add the wet ingredients to the large bowl and stir until thoroughly mixed.

4) Fold in the chocolate chips.

5) Place in small balls on cookie sheet.

6) Bake 11-13 minutes.

7) ENJOY!

5 Simple Tips to Start Loving Your Body

  1. Stop Obsessing. What we focus on… expands. It is the Law of Attraction. Be mindful of your thoughts. If you tell yourself you ARE something…well, then, you ARE. Choose wisely.
  2. Compliment Others. Stop for one second. Don’t you feel good when someone tells you, genuinely, that you look fantastic? Also, don’t you feel good when you tell someone else the same thing? Perfect. Then do it. Win-win.
  3. Stop Comparing. Comparison is the root of all heartache. By comparing yourself to others, you are telling yourself that you are not enough. Repeat after me: YOU ARE ENOUGH.
  4. Body. Language. Carry yourself with poise. Prop your shoulders back, smile, and harness that positive energy when walking and talking. By approaching life this way, you will in turn, feel yourself becoming more confident.
  5. Take a Break from Social Media.  Sure, we are all guilty of stalking the oh-so-perfect-yoga-pose Instagram accounts, or drooling over the “perfect” bodies in every fitness magazine, but do yourself a favor… disconnect from time to time. Take a few hours every Sunday to put your phone down, “forget” about perfection, and start living your life. There will always be another time to snap your own star-studded photo!

Lately, I have been feeling FAR too dependent on my phone and laptop (yes, as I am sitting here typing away). When I say dependent, let me specify…SOCIAL MEDIA dependent. Instagram. Facebook. Snapchat. “Following” every blog or website possible.

In addition, I am far more addicted to texting than to phone calls (with the exception of coaching calls, I almost never talk on the phone).  It is to the point where I almost feel naked without my phone. It actually bothers me to think that I have let it get to this level!

When I seek to “unwind” , it has been to internet-surfing on my laptop nearly every single night. This past week, I decided to make a change. I posted one Instagram post and one Facebook post. This is a decrease of about 6 posts per week. And guess what? I lived. AND… I feel better for it. I didn’t feel the need to sit there and browse someone else’s life, when I was busy creating and sifting through my own!

Yes, social media is a wonderful networking tool, when used correctly. And that being said, I am ALL for that type of social power!  However, when you find yourself comparing aspects of your life to the glamorous Instagram accounts out there, you may recognize that you feel a bit down on yourself. I am by no means blaming social media on anyone feeling this way, but I am sure you can think of a time when you saw something of “perfection” and jumped to a comparison thought right away as to why YOU cannot have that. I know I have to constantly remind myself, as a perfectionist, that there is no such thing as perfect. Only perception. And perception is everything. We can choose to perceive things as intangible or unattainable, or we can decide that anything is possible. We create our own version of success, and that is individual for each and every person.

Make a vow to yourself…take a few hours each week to:

a) Power OFF. Put down your phone / laptop for a few hours on a Sunday or any evening.

b) ENGAGE. Have an actual conversation with loved ones, read a book, watch a movie, listen to music, cook, or play a game.

c) Open yourself up. ACCEPT and love each and every other “account” out there for what it is and for what it offers, instead of constantly comparing yourself.

My personal promise to myself is to be fully present in each and every moment; to actually feel the real, live emotions (not e-motions); and to remember that if I genuinely love life, it will love me back.

New to lululemon?

I am not even really sure when my love-affair with lululemon Athletica began. Thinking back, perhaps it was my first big purchase with Katie Hoff at Fashion Island in Orange County, California. Naturally, I splurged on the pair of pants that got everyone talkin’ luon…. their Groove Pants in black and bright blue. Yes, that was the day. However, perhaps it was my time at FIDM with Taylor Monk, creating patterns for 6-8 hours on massive drafting tables in downtown Los Angeles. Our outfits on those days never changed; decked out in Scuba Hoodies, Wunder Unders tucked into boots, our hair on top of our head with wide framed glasses intact. That then led to a beautiful year and a half on Beverly Drive at lululemon Beverly Hills, followed by another year at the Showroom in Louisville, Kentucky…. living and breathing the lifestyle in my luon clad attire. Regardless of where I am or what I am/have been doing, lululemon Athletica remains a staple in my wardrobe.

Take a Yogi to the Barre…

…my time? 2 minutes and 8 seconds. What’s weird? I was born at 2:08 pm, 2 days ago, in 1986 (obviously). Superstitious?! Year 28 of my life is starting out on a #positivenote.

 

 

Reflecting on a year ago…

Road to Durango A little over a year ago, I ventured to Durango, Colorado to visit my grandfather at his beautiful mountain home. Yup, just my Pappa and I, taking on the mountains one offroading trip at a time. I absolutely LOVE the mountains. There is something about being in the west that exudes a true sense of serenity and peace. I find it to be extremely healing. And, to be honest, I was in a period of unknown transition, again. Exciting, yes. But uncomfortable all in the same.  I was wrapping up my summer, and was going to be moving to Knoxville, Tennessee to obtain my Masters in Sport Psychology and begin an entirely new life…. I absolutely love taking my life and steering it in the direction of my dreams. However, I have found that I make subconscious decisions (such as picking up and going to Durango) when I am needing some clarity. Well, being in the clean, crisp air of Durango with my Pappa did JUST that. About year ago, I was 26 going on 27. And a year ago, my family treated me, for my birthday, to this Durango getaway. Tonight is what I am currently reflecting on this list from that incredible vacation! What a way to transition…with pure clarity and all.  I HIGHLY suggest getting out to the mountains if you want a gorgeous respite from the routine. Promise you that you will leave feeling so rejuvenated and refreshed!

announcementThe fabulous Taylor McFarlane is at it again. This time, she is not my lululemon wingman or my yogi Zen-master. Nope, this time, she grabbed her “other hat” and ran with it. That “I am an insanely talented web-designer” hat. Mmhmmm, yeah, THAT one. She managed to take my old blog and website, and create a new, beautifully designed piece of work….all on my birthday. What a blessing! I am SO proud to have this gorgeous website completed today, June 204, 2014! Now, the fun part comes…wrapping my mind around this bloggin’ world. Gluten & Dairy Free Chocolate Cake

Okay, so for those of you who know Madame Bevillard, you know she is not a self-proclaimed patient, domestic, apron wearing chick to randomly whip up a large cake with 5 million ingredients. That being said, I know many of you are asking for the Bevillard Culinary Creation Recipe —> wellppp, it was SO DARN GOOD that I made her send the secret recipe for the blog ASAP. Here it is in all its glory, as told by the Bevillard Baker herself. #delicious.

So…what kind of birthday cake are you supposed to make for your best friend’s birthday when she is lactose intolerant & a total health hippie? Oh and there is another caveat…she LOVES chocolate (Dark Chocolate of course). Seems like a fun challenge, except there is one small little problem – I LOATHE cooking and/or baking.  I don’t get that fun sense of accomplishment making an Instagram worthy creation (and I definitely don’t have the time or energy to spend on this hobby).
