if you are supposed to be somewhere
or doing something?
do you?
no.
you don’t.
show up anyway.
assess- is it fueling me?
I took some time away
from my sketching and art
just because
and this weekend
I stepped back in-
only to realize
the time I took away
was me sabotaging myself
and my joy
due to self-induced expectations
you know-
that usual sabotage.
What if your last thought
about something inside
of your mind
was as sweet as the last bite
of your favorite dessert?
What if we savored the positivity
of that last thought-
closed out a mental conversation
with ourselves with
“mmmm… yes”
no “what-ifs”
no “not good enough”
no “questions of worth”—
could we?
savor that thought?
and savor it like dessert?
My intuition has always been my superpower-
learning to use it properly is an art-
and I’ll be damned if it is anything
but respected-
by me.
