For the things I’ve ignored-
For they can have a seat at my table, too.
For the things I’ve ignored-

To acknowledge some parts
of myself that I have
ignored ….
I am handling that.
Speaking to an auditorium full of
eager, young girls-
knowing that I am learning just as much
as I am teaching—
about self and others and
truth and pain and dreams
and love and bullying
and self-ownership.
When a pen writers just right
call with my dad
removing exceeds waste from my brain (not easy)
because the more I learn, the more I overthink or-
the more “I think” I should overthink
and the more I do this, well, we know what happens…
expectation and head lead the charge
heart and body take a backseat.
and when i’ve consistently found positive results with both
is when I learn to then let go-
absorb to squeeze out and shut off.
Since a formal gratitude list
has been written.
because sometimes the purpose
of them is to be in the moment.
and I spend a few days out of the moment, and became aware enough
not to force it,
but to immerse myself in
back to moment things,
such as the ocean, and sketching, and conversations and and and….
